Hi everyone. I wanted to send out a prayer request for my stepmother, Sandra. She found out last week that she was going to have to have back surgery for a tumor the doctors feel is beign, but needs to be removed as soon as possible to keep her from being paralized. She went to the doctor this morning and they said this surgery would need to be done within the next week or so. It is my understanding that they will have to cut some bone away, then remove the tumor, then fuse her backbone. They will have to do the surgery at Carolina Medical because NEMC doesn't have this monitor that they will need to use to let them know if they are getting too close to her spinal cord. They said that the tumor is about the size of a nickel, but it is a very risky surgery due to the fact that it is under her spinal cord. Because of the risk of this surgery, there is still a possibility of her being paralized. Please pray for her and my dad during this "waiting" time for the surgery and of course then for the actual surgery itself that everything will go well during the surgery as well as the recovery.
