Sometimes I'm jealous of others. How can I get out of the jealous/envy trap?
Believe God knows you best. People around you may seem to have what you don't -- better work situations, better families, better homes. It's sometimes difficult to watch others move ahead in life and then be truly happy for them.
The trick is to believe God knows you through and through and is watching out for you, despite how other people's lives look. When you become jealous, it's as if you're giving God advice: "You should give me this, God. You should make sure that happens to me, too!" While something may look exactly like you want, only God sees the future and knows what you need. Only He is equipped to know whether the things you demand will fit. Second-guessing God through jealousy is like saying God doesn't see into your heart or bring you what you need to be satisfied in life. God, who can be known and loved, can also be trusted. He will not disappoint.
